Google buys Twitch for 1 Billion
Rumors have been out since May that Google and Twitch authourities are having negotiations about merging twitch with google. Now, some of the unofficial sources, related though, have confirmed that google has bought the game-livestreaming firm for $1 billion. There has been no word from any of the firms yet. However, lets see what they speak about it on the GameBeat 2014 this september.
This has been the 5th big acquisition in the google purchases history. Google had previously bought Youtube for $1.65 billion. If the figure, $1 billion, is correct and the agreement is there, this would take a big cut from the gaming industry to the Google. Google has already been a Web Giant and continuing its triumph by getting into gaming industry as well.
The Twitch has a community of greater than 50 million unique visitors every month. It has approx. 1.1 billion broadcasters around and visitors spending ~1 hour on site every day. Twitch was founded by Justin.tv founders, Justin Kan and Emmett Shear, in June 2011. This was the innovation of live-streaming of videos and games that was happening somewhere right then. Shear is still CEO of Twitch.
